FRANSAT updated its broadcast encryption on 27 April 2026 to enhance security. Following this change, some older HD set-top boxes will no longer work and will lose access to FRANSAT DTT channels.

Fransat is a French digital TV service similar to the UK Freesat service. Fransat offers French TV national broadcasts in the UK received via a 60cm satellite dish.
Fransat consists of the popular 18 channel TNTSat group of channels (plus additional 6 HD channels) including TF1, M6, France 2, 3, 4, 5 etc. The viewing card for Fransat has a 4 year expiry date from activation which means no monthly fees, the channels are free to view, you simply buy the receiving equipment and there is nothing more to pay. The initial 4 year card is supplied along with the set top box or CAM module.

Recent changes to the satellites that transmit the Fransat channels have resulted in the service now being unavailable in parts of the North of England as well as all Scotland and Northern Ireland, the old Atlantic Bird satellite has been replaced by two new satellites with a reduced coverage.
