FRANSAT updated its broadcast encryption on 27 April 2026 to enhance security. Following this change, some older HD set-top boxes will no longer work and will lose access to FRANSAT DTT channels.

To check compatibility:

View this page of incompatible boxes, or
Go to channel 999 on your FRANSAT box and wait up to 30 minutes for an on-screen confirmation.

If your viewing card is still valid, you can keep using it - just insert it into a compatible new box.

We have limited stock of compatible set-top boxes available from £99.95 (including delivery), or box and viewing card packages from £129.95 if your card is due to expire.

If necessary - visit the Store to order.

RECORDING

Using the set top box EPG (Recommended)

Most Fransat HD and Nelisat customers choose to add an external recommended hard disc drive and activate the set top box recording facility. Similar to the Sky Plus system this will offer you a convenient recording service without the need for messy video tapes, timers etc. Recording can be stored or deleted repeatedly as appropriate.

You can add additional drives if you like to keep lots of recordings and can also transfer your recordings to other media, example your PC. Perfect for teachers who use language recordings as part of their teaching methods.

Using external recording devive

Fransat set top boxes have digital and analogue outputs for connecting to external recording devices such as hard disc and DVD/Blu-ray recorders. If you would like to use this method we can advise on connection methods and any additional equipment like splitters and connection cables required. Feel free to contact us for professional friendly advice.
